The Sons in Retirement organization, located at Lake of the Pines, is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation for retired men, devoted to the promotion of independence and dignity of retirement.
If you are a retired or semi-retired male living within or close to Lake of the Pines, you are cordially invited to join this unique organization. To become an applicant for membership, you must have a current branch member as a sponsor.
SIR is informal. You dont have to memorize anything. We do not perform any rituals in our meetings. We begin each meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. We are non-political and espouse no specific religion. We do not promote any cause or support any agenda other than that established by our founders.
Membership in SIR requires no initiation fee or dues, is entirely for the benefit of the members, not a service club, no paid employees and no physical assets. Membership shall be open to men retired from fulltime, gainful occupations, regardless of age, race, color or religion.
SIR is an organization that allows each of us the opportunity to participate in all activities; to be as active as each of us wants; to develop new associations and to be able to enjoy other fellow members. Never forget that the primary purpose of SIR is to have fun. A monthly newsletter and the Branch 170 SIR club website at www.lop.org will keep you informed of all local activities and we have added a link to all SIR California activities. There are 160 Branches in California with about 20,000 members. There are 5 other branches in our AREA (33): Alta Sierra, Lake Wildwood, Nevada City, and 2 in Auburn.
The cost to belong is minimal. We require each member to pay for his own lunch, currently (2007) $12.00. The contribution of one dollar per month to pay for the miscellaneous expenses is voluntary. We meet the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the L.O.P. Clubhouse. You will enjoy a lunch, business meeting, speaker and camaraderie of other SIR members. Current yearly activities are: monthly meetings, monthly golf outings, spectator sports events, travel options and local social events.
