2011/2012 LUNCHEON MENUS* &  PROGRAMS:

September 15 - Program:  A power point presentation by the Placer Nature Center's Chairman of the Board, Steve Davis.  Menu:  Lasagna, Caesar salad, stuffed zucchini and garlic bread.  Rainbow sherbet with cookie for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Vegetable lasagna.

October 20 - Program:  Fashions from the Cancer Society Discovery Shop presented by Anne Conley and Barbara Diemer.  Menu:  Lemon thyme herbed chicken, house salad with dressing, rice pilaf, seasonal fresh vegetables, rolls & butter.  Lemon layered cake for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Seasonal grilled vegetable medley with lemon thyme herb sauce over rice pilaf.  
 

November 17
Program:  Speaker Steve Rosenthal, Tess' Kitchen store owner and LOP resident, will be doing a holiday cooking demonstration showing different techniques for some of our favorite dishes.   Menu:  Turkey with all the trimmings (cornbread stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans), house salad with dressing, rolls & butter.  Pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Portabella mushroom stuffed with sauteed fresh spinach, topped with artichoke hearts, zucchini, diced tomatoes, parmesan and feta cheeses, then braised with red wine. 

December 15 - Program:  The Bear River High School Jazz Choir will entertain us with their Christmas program.   Menu:  Roast pork with cranberry sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, Prince Edward blend vegetables (green and wax beans and carrots), rolls and butter.  Fruit cobbler for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Spinach ricotta ravioli with Alfredo or marinara sauce.   

January 19  - Program: LOP resident Vicki Brown will talk about nutrition and Prime Time Healing.  Menu:  Beef stroganoff (beef tips in sauce over egg noodles), house green salad with dressing, California blend vegetables (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower), rolls and butter.  Apple pie for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Vegetable stroganoff. 

February 16 Program:  The speaker will be Sandy Schmidt, founder and executive director of Women of Worth, an organization that assists families in crisis and domestic violence victims by helping them become self-reliant and rebuild their lives with dignity, hope and safety.  Menu:  Chicken cordon bleu with Alfredo sauce, roasted red potatoes, green beans, house salad with dressing, rolls and butter.  Chocolate cake for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Pasta primavera with Alfredo sauce (no potatoes).

March 15 - Program:  Nevada County Sheriff Royal will be speaking to the Firebelles on identity theft and how to protect yourself.  Menu:  Corned beef and cabbage, boiled red potatoes with carrots, fruit salad, rye bread and butter.  Carrot cake for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Veggie stuffed bell pepper. 

April 19 - Program:  Fashions from the Assistance League.   Menu:  Ham, rustic mashed potatoes, split pea soup, California vegetable blend (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower).  Stawberry shortcake for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Risotto primavera with veggies, cheese and creamy garlic sauce, and vegetarian split pea soup. 

May 17 - Program:  White Elephant Sale.   Menu:  South of the border taco buffet (chicken/beef--chef's choice) with rice and beans, warmed tortillas (both kinds), house salad with ranch dressing, chips and salsa.  Vanilla ice cream with churro for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Same (prepare without meat).

June 21 - Program:  Installation of 2012-2013 Firebelles Officers.  Menu:  Club sandwich (turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo on wheat), potato salad, asian cole slaw.  Strawberry layered cake for dessert.  Vegetarian Menu:  Veggie wrap (lettuce, tomato, olives and avocado wrapped in a tortilla with ranch dressing).

*Vegetarian entree available on request with reservation.  Extras same as regular meal.
