Who are the Firebelles?
The Firebelles are a group of women (approximately 147) who reside at Lake of the Pines.  These women foster, encourage and promote involvement in the Lake of the Pines Community.

What do they do?
The Firebelles contribute exclusively to the enhancement, security and maintenance of Lake of the Pines by sponsoring various money-making activities.

When and how often do they meet?
We meet in the Clubhouse for a monthly (except July and August) luncheon meeting on the third Thursday. These luncheons not only include a wonderful meal but also interesting programs, i.e., speakers, entertainment, fashion shows, etc.  The Clubhouse doors open at 11:00 AM providing social time prior to the meeting at 11:30 AM, followed by lunch beginning at approximately 11:45 AM, and the entertainment program at approximately 12:45 PM.  The cost of the luncheon is $13.00, payable at the door with a prior reservation.

Are new people welcome?
Membership is open to all women who reside at Lake of the Pines who pay the yearly dues of $10.00.  Non-members wishing to come to one of the monthly meetings may either come as a “guest” of a Firebelle member or call the Firebelles President and ask to be put on the reservation list as a “non-member”.   The LOP Welcome Committee distributes a complimentary Firebelles luncheon certificate to all new LOP women.  This certificate includes guidelines on how to make a reservation for the complimentary luncheon.

How do I join?
LOP women may join by contacting the Membership Chair (Linda Edwards at 268-2669 or Phyllis Sorenson at 268-3043) and/or by making a reservation to attend a luncheon meeting and paying the yearly membership dues of $10.00 at the luncheon.

What fundraising events do we sponsor throughout the year?
Although the Firebelles’ money-making activities vary from year to year, there are usually several events.

Last year the Firebelles sponsored a Casino Night, their 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off, the annual Home Tour, the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop Fashion Show, and five bus trips to Reno, as well as local toy and food drives.  Scheduled for this year is the Discovery Shop Fashion Show in November, the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off on February 27th, the return of the always popular Firebelles Follies on March 25th, 26th and 27th,  and the LOP Home Tour on May 20th.

The Firebelles most lucrative money-maker is the LOP Golf Course Snack Shack, located at the 9th hole.  The Firebelles operate the Snack Shack for 23 weeks during the year.  Volunteer Firebelle members work in the Snack Shack as “openers/closers” or as 4-hour shift “workers”.  During these 4-hour shifts, the two workers prepare hotdogs and sandwiches and sell food, snacks and beverages to the golfers.  It’s lots of fun and a great way to really get to know another Firebelle!

Another fun way the Firebelles raise money is by sponsoring five one-day bus trips to Reno each year.  The bus trips this year are on November 2nd, February 1st, April 5th, June 7th and August 30th.  These trips are open to all LOP residents and their guests.  The $30 fee includes the round-trip bus ride to and from Reno, raffle prizes, Bloody Marys or Screwdrivers on the bus, coffee and donuts on the Summit, as well as a $10 certificate from the gaming casino and $5 food credit.  They also play Bingo on the bus and watch a movie!  It’s truly a fun-packed day!
